Siri AI in iOS 27.2 can now remember what it told you. Ask about the restaurants it recommended last week and it pulls up that earlier conversation instead of starting from zero.
Apple lists the changes in its iOS 27.2 release notes, and the update also brings Siri AI to French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. It runs on all iPhone 16 models and later, the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are not on the list.
Siri AI now recalls old conversations and reads more of your data
Conversation recall means you can ask Siri AI about something it said in an earlier chat. A restaurant list, a gift idea or a trip plan no longer has to be rebuilt from scratch when you come back to it a week later.
Siri AI also draws on more sources when it builds an answer. iOS 27.2 adds these:
- Photos attached in Messages
- Calendar event attendees
- Your voicemails
- Better results from Safari history and Reading List
Together they give Siri AI far more of your own data to answer from than the first Siri AI release had, from who is invited to an event to what a voicemail said.
Granular text selection is the smaller addition. You can now select and copy just the part of a Siri response you need, instead of copying the whole answer and trimming it somewhere else.
Excluded Apps puts every Siri access decision in one setting
Excluded Apps lets you choose which apps Siri, Search and suggestions can access, all from one setting. One list now covers all three, so keeping Siri AI out of a private notes app or a banking app is a single choice.
Siri AI now reads Messages photos and voicemails, so the list has more to protect than before. If you want conversation recall without handing over every app, Excluded Apps is where you draw that line.
Five new languages arrive, but not in the EU or mainland China
Siri AI launched with iOS 27 in English only. iOS 27.2 adds French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, which Apple had promised for October. Some iPhones still need the waitlist signup before Siri AI turns on.
The Siri app also lets you switch between Siri AI and ChatGPT if you would rather use ChatGPT for some requests.
Siri AI is still not available in the EU or mainland China, and EU iPhone users are still waiting.
