Apple TV+ acquires drama movie “Fingernails” at 2022 Cannes, starring Riz Ahmed and Jessie Buckley

At the 2022 Cannes movie festival, Apple TV+ landed its first British film titled “Fingernail” starring Emmy award winner Riz Ahmed and Jessie Buckley. The new movie is a science fiction love story directed by Christos Nikou.

“Fingernail” will be produced by Cate Blanchett, Coco Francini, and Andrew Upton of Dirty Films and FilmNation Entertainment. It will be executive produced by Jerome Duboz and it was co-written by Nikou and Apple’s Sam Steiner and Stavros Raptis.

Calling the movie one of the hot Cannes Market sales titles earlier this month, Deadline reports that the unconventional love drama “Fingernail” premiered at the Venice Film Festival and became Greece’s official Oscar entry. And now it will be coming to Apple TV+.

Apple TV+ new “Fingernail” love story

The upcoming movie is a love story based on a test that measures the intensity of the love married couples have for their spouses. Jessie Buckley plays the role of Anna, who uncertain of the authenticity of the tests, joins love instructor Trevor (played by Riz Ahmed) to find out the truth about the high rate of positive results.

In this sci-fi love story, a test has been discovered that measures whether married couples are truly in love, and institutes have opened to help couples succeed. Anna (Buckley) is skeptical of the positive result she’s received with her longtime partner, so she starts working in a love institute as an assistant to Trevor (Ahmed) a mysterious and dedicated instructor.
