macOS Monterey 12.2 released with fix for Safari data leak bug

Apple has released macOS Monterey 12.2 to all users. The update includes a fix for Safari data leak bug, as well as scrolling improvements in the browser on MacBook Pro models with 120Hz ProMotion displays. The previous major update was macOS Monterey 12.1, which was released with SharePlay, Apple Music Voice Plan, Digital Legacy for Apple ID, and other features.

While Apple has released almost all delayed features with macOS Monterey 12.1, Universal Clipboard is still not available for customers. Apple has updated its release date to Spring 2022, so it is unclear if it will release with macOS Monterey 12.2 or macOS Monterey 12.3.

Is your Mac compatible with macOS Monterey 12.2?

macOS Monterey 12.1 is compatible with the following Intel and M1 Macs:

  • MacBook Air (early 2015 and later)
  • MacBook Pro (early 2015 and later)
  • MacBook (early 2016 and later)
  • iMac (later 2015 and later)
  • iMac Pro (2017 and later)
  • Mac mini (late 2014 and later)
  • Mac Pro (late 2013 and later)

How can you install macOS Monterey 12.2 on your Mac?

To enroll your Mac into Apple’s developer beta program, you have to register with Apple Developer Center. This will give you access to a beta profile through a utility that is downloaded from Apple Developer Center. Once you download and install the utility on your Mac, go to System Preferences > Software Update to download and install the new beta update. If you are using a portable Mac, make sure that it is connected to a power outlet throughout the update.

If you are using an M1 Mac, we don’t recommend that you install the beta update, as downgrading is not as simple as it was on Intel Macs.
