Apple wants iOS 16 bets testers to help improve software quality by submitting bugs

Apple is encouraging iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 beta testers to submit any bugs or issues they come across in an effort to resolve existing kinks in the software. This will help ensure users get the most stable update for their device when it arrives in the fall.

If you are an iOS 16 beta tester, here’s how you can help Apple improve the update

Appleā€™s next-generation software update for iPhone was recently unveiled with a redesigned Lock Screen experience, new capabilities in Mail, WalletMessagesenhanced intelligence with updates to Live Text and Dictation, and more. Updates for Apple’s other devices were also unveiled at WWDC 22 including iPadOS 16, watchOS 9, and macOS Ventura.

The first betas of all the next-generation software updates are available for members of Apple’s developer program now so that they can test them over the summer. The software updates will become available to all users in the fall which should give testers enough time to inform the tech giant if they come across any issues or bugs during their testing.

Previously, the process of submitting bugs to Apple was complicated and beta testers would often choose not to go through it. However, this meant that Apple was missing out on valuable feedback, which is why the tech giant is changing strategies this year.

With iOS 16 and iPadOS beta 1, if a device crashes, reboots, or if there is an apparent bug present in the system, testers will be shown a prompt, encouraging them to report the issue to Apple. In addition, Apple recently shared information on how to “file great bug reports.” Tips include being detailed, logging crashes, and providing visual evidence like a screenshot or screen recording.

iOS 16, iPadOS 16, watchOS 9, and macOS Ventura will be released to the general public in the fall alongside the iPhone 14 lineup. The first developer betas of the software updates have been released for developers and a public beta will become available in July.
