Today, Apple has announced the official date for this month’s online event which will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, at Apple Park. It is expected that the company will announce the next-generation Apple Watch, iPad Air and other products and services. The announcement is made on the Apple Events webpage.
The new flagship iPhone 12 might not be announced at the event for Apple confirmed the delay of the new smartphone series by “few weeks” in July. Although as unprecedented as the official mention of the delay was, the company did not elaborate on the reasons for the delay.
Due to the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic, it is reported that the company faced several production delays because of supply chain disruption created by imposed health measures like lockdowns, social distancing and stay at home orders.
New Products Expected on September 15
As per industry reports and leaks, consumers should expect the announcement of the smartwatch, tablets, tags and bundle deals at this September 15 event. Here are the details of the expected products based on leaks and analysts’ claims.
Apple Watch Series 6
The advanced technology in the next-generation smartwatch will offer more health features and improved performance and connectivity. Apple Watch Series 6 will have a fingerprint sensor in the digital crown for Touch ID authentication, pulse oximetry to monitor oxygen levels in the users’ bloodstream, and native sleep tracking.
It is recently reported that the Cupertino tech company will release two models of the upcoming smartwatch series, one mid-range model to compete with Fitbit like wristbands in the market and the other high-end Apple Watch model.
The new smartwatch will run on the new watchOS 7 which offers several new features like new workout types, hearing, handwash detection, redesigned fitness app, watch face creation and sharing ability.
New iPad Line-up
The company is likely to announce two new tablets, an iPad and iPad Air 4. The 10.8-inch iPad will be the 8th generation model of the tablet with 2020 iPad Pro like design language, thinner bezels, FaceID authentication and Magic Keyboard support.
The 11-inch iPad Air will run on the new and powerful A14 Bionic chip for faster performance and reduced power consumption. The new iPad Air 4 will have an 11-inch Retina display, better speakers, Touch ID in the power button, USB-C port and Magic Keyboard support. The device is speculated to retail for $499.
New Over-Ears Headphones and Third-Generation AirPods
Apple will announce its first over-ears headphones outside of Beats branding. The wireless headphones will be like the current Beats 700 model and will retail for $350. The other audio accessory is the next-generation AirPods.
Smart tags bundles are rumored to be announced at the event. Attached to objects with a hook, the AirTags will help users to easily locate belongings like keys, wallets, handbags, and other items.
Apple One – Services bundle
To promote its services, Apple is likely to introduce a new Apple One services bundle that will offer combos of the company’s services for attractive prices. Recently, the iPhone maker has been paying attention to its services division like on its devices. In 2019, the company launched Apple TV+ video streaming service and in little time, the service has won two Emmy awards and several Emmy nominations. Although it was not officially announced, Tim Connolly a renowned Hollywood deals distributor joined the video streaming division.
